BARNBURNER
The Barnburner Manifesto
Every signal has a frequency. Every thought, every room, every relationship, every habit. The question is whether you’re tuned in, or just picking up noise?
Frequency is physics. It’s the rate at which a wave oscillates, the pitch of a sound, the color of light. Higher frequencies carry more energy. They cut through. They resonate differently. And when two frequencies align, they amplify. When they clash, they cancel. This is also how we move through life. The environments we enter, the people we surround ourselves with, the thoughts we rehearse, the work we do. All of it vibrates at a frequency. And so do we.
Barn Burner has always been about stepping outside the usual signal. For a few days, we leave behind the bandwidth of daily life and tune into something different. This year, we’re asking: what frequency are you broadcasting? What are you receiving? And what would it take to shift?
For a few days in October, we’ll calibrate together. We’ll explore the frequencies of sound, movement, conversation, silence, and presence. We’ll notice what amplifies and what dampens. And we’ll return to our lives with a clearer sense of the frequency we want to carry forward.
Tune in. Turn up. Transmit.

Frequently asked questions
What is Barn Burner?
Barn Burner is a small-format, co-created event combining elements of a music festival, retreat, and family reunion. It's a space to have a great time and make memories together in a friendly and safe environment while also going deeper and exploring new perspectives, ideas, and connections. Everyone’s experience is unique (you can choose your own adventure), but for many psychedelics play a key role in their experience.
In short, we drink, we party, we trip, we talk, we reflect, we learn.. and at the end we come away feeling refreshed and re-connected.
What is the history of Barn Burner? How did it start?
Barn Burner started in 2016 when we held a quarterly meeting in a Wisconsin cabin. The meeting evolved into an impromptu transformative experience, and we were hooked. In 2018, we recreated the event at the same cabin, sharing it with more friends. Since then, Barn Burner has grown into a community-driven experience, blending elements of a festival and retreat, and providing a space for creativity, connection, and expression.
You mentioned co-creation. What does that mean?
Co-creation means that every attendee plays a part in shaping the event. Whether it's organizing activities, sharing talents by hosting a DJ set, preparing meals, planning decor, or simply contributing ideas, everyone has a role in making Barn Burner special. This collaborative approach ensures that the event reflects the diverse interests and abilities of the community, creating a richer experience for all.
Where does my money go?
We operate Barn Burner as a break even event. All core costs and expenses are shared equally among the group. In addition this year we are doing a $100 admission fee, which will fund purchases of equipment or art (speakers, signs, etc.) that can carry forward into future events.
